Petition updateStop the barbaric cruelty!Parks Victoria plans to Trap Brumbies in Foaling Season a potential Welfare Issue

Parks Victoria  plans to trap Brumbies in Barmah during foaling season is  a potential Welfare issue and must not happen. RSPCA must step in and advise Parks Victoria not to proceed on grounds of welfare.

Should trapping proceed  there is risk newly born foals will be crushed, or be left outside the trapyards,  denied their mother's milk possibly dying of starvation.

If trapped inside the yard there is a strong chance of newly born foals being crushed underfoot as stallions and mares will be fighting over food and trying to escape.

These mindless and cruel plans without regard for sentient wildlife must not be allowed to proceed.

Please write to the Minister for Environment. Ask her to advise Parks Victoria not to proceed with this barbaric plan.

Trapping should not take place in either foaling season or during Summer months when other welfare issues arise for  Brumbies both during the trapping in Summer swelter and transport.

Minister D'Ambrosio has already come under the criticism of the Auditor General over her poor record in the environment. Now this has the potential to become a record for cruelty and inhumane practices.

It's time the State Government of Victoria acknowledged the 180,000 signature Petition delivered on Ms D'Ambrosio calling for an end to stand alone management plans that will see all Brumbies cruelly shot or removed, and instead adopt calls for the introduction of a Bill for Legislation that acknowledges the heritage value of Brumbies, with a Panel to create a plan to retain sustainably managed mobs of Brumbies for all future generations.

Our culture. Our Heritage.
