On 3 February 2021 WENDY LOVELL MP rose in Parliament and asked Lily DAmbrosio, the MInister for the Environment and Energy, to review the Plan to remove all of the Barmah Brumbies from the Barmah Forest. Please read what Wendy Lovell MP said in Parliament yesterday:
She finished with""As we know, the brumbies have heritage value and they have sentimental value: they are the Australian Waler horse. Many of them have been there for over 160 years, but some of them were introduced around the time of World War I, when the Light Horsemen who went off to war took one of their horses with them but had to release the rest of their horses, so they have a lot of sentimental value to our local area. The locals would like the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to review her plan to remove all of those brumbies and to actually look at the forest, see the state of it now and then reassess that plan, because we do not believe that the brumbies should be removed in their entirety.
Please, sign the Petition Letter that calls upon members of parliament of the State of Victoria to endorse a push for Legislation to protect Victorian Brumby bloodlines in the 3 key areas of Victoria and to review the Plan to remove Barmah Brumbies from the Barmah National Park.
Please continue to share this Petition widely.
Our iconic Brumbies are being used as a political tool.
