On 3 June 2020 Hon Wendy Lovell MP moved a powerfully spoken motion in the Legislative Council of Victorian Parliament calling on the Andrews Labor Government to cease its plan for the broad scale shooting of brumbies in Victorian National Parks.
The motion passed unanimously with strong support from the cross bench. Even Labor MP’s including five Cabinet Ministers could not bring themselves to vote in favour of their own party’s policy.
The passing of this motion sends a strong message to Daniel Andrews and Parks Victoria that they must abandon their plan to shoot our brumbies.
The danger now is that Daniel Andrews just ignores the directive of the upper house motion. You can reinforce that message by emailing Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister Lily D’ambrosio, and demand the State government comply with the motion passed in the Victorian Upper House and cease shooting brumbies. You should note in your email that even Labor MP’s failed to vote for the government‘s own policy to shoot brumbies.
