Stop the Banks Seizing Our Saving Deposits, Oppose Bail-in Legislation
The issue
There is currently new legislation being drafted by the treasury that will affect all Australians, involving bail-ins for the banks. For those of you who dont know about what the bail-in legislation involves,it is legislation currently being prepared by Treasury, to impose on Australia a Cyprus-style “bail-in” regime, so that when a major Australia bank goes under in the next financial crisis—as one or more assuredly will—our savings deposits will be seized to prop that bank up.Information about this legislation has been kept from the public. Instead of “bail-in”, the Australian Parliament must pass legislation modelled upon the Glass-Steagall law which functioned so successfully from its passage in 1933 until its repeal in 1999, which separated commercial banking from investment banking. Without such a separation, banks are free to speculate with customers’ deposits, which, for instance, is why Australian banks now hold some $21.5 trillion in highly risky derivatives.. So please share this information so all Australians are aware of what will happen. For more information on this go to, http://cecaust.com.au/bail-in/
