We are calling for an end to the abuse of counter-terrorism and anti-money laundering powers to target solidarity groups and individuals.

The National Crime Agency [NCA] is instructing banks to freeze accounts of organisations and individuals.

It is a criminal offence even to tell those affected why they have been targeted. This produces a Kafkaesque situation in which those whose accounts are frozen can’t even answer the allegations secretly made against them. 

Starmer and the ‘Labour’ Government are introducing a police state by the backdoor.

Those who have been affected include Greater Manchester Friends of Palestine [GMFP] and its members, Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign [SPSC] and activist Tony Greenstein. Individuals from Defend Our Juries are also believed to have been targeted.

The NCA says that it is fighting serious and organised crime. What it’s really doing is using money laundering and anti-terrorist legislation in order to target opponents of Genocide in Gaza

This is McCarthyism. Authoritarian states have traditionally used such measures against dissidents and the Trump Regime has used financial sanctions against Francesca Albanese and International Criminal Court Judges.

Tony Greenstein, a well known Jewish anti-Zionist has been debanked 3 times in the past two years and has now had his accounts, frozen a fourth time by Santander yet the NCA has never sought to interview him about any alleged offences. It is pure harassment.

Banks won’t divulge the reasons why they freeze or close accounts so it is impossible to appeal the measures they take. This is out of Franz Kafka’s The Trial  We are told that they have ‘regulatory concerns’ about individuals and organisations and that they are forbidden to inform the targets what the accusations are. These are just excuses and pretexts for what is 'legislation creep' - where legislation to deal with one thing is then used to target political dissidents. No evidence has to be produced and none will be produced because there is none.

Supporting refugees in Gaza, supporting children in the West Bank is more than the 'appetite risk' as banks describe it can bear. This is capitalism, red in tooth and claw. Western governments and the amoral Starmers of the West pretend that they support a two state solution but in reality what they support is the present occupation. It is noticeable that no Western leader has condemned Israel's flagrant breaches of the Fourth Geneva Convention which enjoins the occupier to have regard to the welfare of those whose lands they occupy.

Israel steals the water of the Palestinians and then charges them for it whilst at the same time providing free water for the settlers. Palestinian water sources such as wells have concrete poured in them without so much as a whisper from the West. This is the context in which Palestine solidarity groups and activists have their money frozen and obstacles put in their way.

The Charity Commission even endorsed two Zionist charities sending £5.7m to settlements built on stolen Palestinian land. And now we learn that Zionist charities are giving millions of pounds to illegal settlements in Palestine, built on stolen land, with the blessing of the Charity Commission.

We call for an inquiry into the use of legislation designed to tackle serious crime but used for an entirely different purpose, viz. targeting political activists.
