The Issue

On February 25, 2023, my sister and I went to the local SPCA to look into adopting a new dog for her and our mother. While we were there filling out an application, two girls walked in carrying a puppy. This puppy was dirty and scared, with matted hair and ticks on her. The girls said they had found her wandering near the road by Cherokee Tap Room in Danville Pa, and picked her up to bring her in before she was hit by a car. They stated that there was another puppy with the one they picked up, however they were unable to catch the other one as it ran away from them.

My sister and I decided to go look and see if we could find the other one since we had time that day. We drove around Cherokee Tap Room and eventually saw 3 puppies running through fields at a house behind the restaurant. We stopped at the house and knocked on the door to inform them of the puppy we saw at the SPCA and see if they were home. No one answered the door, and we witnessed the 3 puppies running without a leash or anything outside, as well as multiple other dogs on chains hooked outside. We called the phone number listed on the sign of their Vehicle Undercoating business, and no one responded.

After we had left and finally got in touch with someone we were told the puppies were all for sale. We were told they were all 15 weeks old, fully vaccinated, and treated with flea/tick medication. When we scheduled to pick up all four puppies, we went to the house, paid the money, received vet clinic vaccination records and a health guarantee for each puppy.

The puppies ALL ended up getting sick on the car ride to their new homes. They were overfed, and fed large adult dog food instead of proper nutrition for puppies. They were all dirty, with the exception of the only male pup. They all four had ticks on them, and multiple scabs from previous ticks and skin issues.

Fast forward a few days of bathing, loving, and healing these mistreated pups. One of them gets very sick and lethargic and her new family gets very concerned. They rush her to the Plains Emergency Animal Hospital to get her cared for. After testing and checking the pup to find out what was wrong, little Solo is diagnosed with Parvovirus. We reached out to the breeders to inform them and find out what is going on, and they ADMIT to neglecting finishing vaccinations because "the puppies were supposed to be gone by then." They also admitted to lying in regards to flea and tick treatment for the puppies as well.

Solo was the only one who was diagnosed with parvo, and she is on the mend to her recovery right now, as she just came home to her new family Sunday, March 12th from the hospital. The breeders are now stating none of this was their responsibility and trying to pass the blame to the SPCA, Cherokee Tap Room, and the new owners. They are trying to get us ALL to sign papers relinquishing them from responsibility and refusing to pay for medical bills and/or refunds on dogs that all need re-vaccinated and tested for Parvo and Lymes.

These breeders have been contacted by Animal Control numerous times, and have been reported by many due to the neglect they give their animals, and allowing them to run all over the area, as well as onto the busy highway they live near. They didn't even know they were missing a puppy until we told them HOURS later when we finally got in touch with them!

Please help us by signing this petition to SHUT DOWN THEIR BREEDING BUSINESS! These individuals (the Weber family at 715 Elysburg Road, Danville Pa 17821) do NOT deserve to continue using animals as a paycheck and neglecting and harming these animals at the same time! We want to see them unable to hurt any other animals, and we don't want anyone else to go through the heartache and financial strain these people have made us suffer.

Thank you in advance for signing our petition!
