We, the families, staff, and community of Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School (JLCS), strongly oppose the secretive and undemocratic attempt to merge our school into the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District (JNPSD).

JLCS leadership initiated these talks without informing parents or teachers.

They sent out one vague message, claiming no decision had been made and that they were only “exploring options.”

But then — without warning — the JNPSD superintendent released a video announcing the merger like it was final.

We were blindsided. No updates. No explanation. No voice in the process.

JLCS has been a safe space for students who need:

• Small class sizes
• Real IEP support
• Flexible school schedules
• A nurturing, hands-on environment

This merger would strip all of that away — and throw our students into a district that is still under investigation for financial misconduct and has not proven it can serve our children better.

WE DEMAND:

1. An immediate halt to all merger discussions
2. Full transparency from JLCS and JNPSD leadership
3. A public hearing with parents, staff, and students
4. No merger without a formal vote from the affected community

This is not collaboration — it’s a takeover!
