STOP the Avery Lake Home Owners Association from changing State Land forever!

STOP the Avery Lake Home Owners Association from changing State Land forever!
The Issue
In 2023 the Avery Lake Property Owners Association (ALPOA), a voluntary association is planning to begin a Shoreline Project on the east side of Avery Lake at the old boat launch and dam area ON STATE LAND.
In October 2022, the ALPOA moved large Lime stone rocks along the road eliminating ALL parking and access to this point. The work was completed WITHOUT DNR APPLICATION APPROVAL.
A group of concerned neighbors would like to tell the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to STOP ALL APPLICATION for "Use of Department Managed Land" requests by the ALPOA.
We respectfully request the ALPOA leave Michigan State land around Avery Lake to nature. The DNR is not requiring restoration to the shoreline.
We need as many signatures from Michigan residents as possible to Petition local DNR officer Cody Stevens for a PUBLIC MEETING regarding these applications.
This is only the beginning of the Avery Lake Property Owners Association plan to close off access on State land to the lake, trails and forest around Avery Lake.
The ALPOA has applied for THREE DNR "Use of Department Managed Land" applications. The most destructive application is to use the "Riprap" method along 100 feet of shoreline on the east side of Avery Lake at the old boat launch.
We do not want the banks of our lake restored using the "RIPRAP" method whereby large quantities of unsightly stones are placed along the banks.
The "riprap" method would do more harm to the lake habit than any human, horse or avt!
If the ALPOA is allowed by the DNR the result will be:
- Removal of ALL public parking and access to the shoreline on the east side of Avery Lake
- Eliminates any place for horses, off-road vehicles, golf carts, etc. to get off the roadway
- The complete 100 feet of shoreline and 6-10 feet out will be filled with rocks. The final result with be dirty, algae covered rocks, littered with weeds will be unsightly and take away from the beauty of Avery Lake FOREVER.
- Destroy the sandy beach area and any access
- The negative impact on aquatic life and overall habit. The suckers spawn in this spot every spring!!
