The Issue

As residents living within a hundred meters of the proposed development at 911 Anders Road, we are deeply concerned about the City's approval of Zoning Bylaw Amendment Z 24-01. This amendment seeks to change our neighborhood from a single detached family zone to a Comprehensive Development Zone (CD), allowing for a six-storey high-density building with up to 50 apartment units.

Our back lane walkway, cherished by local families and school children, would be transformed into a driveway servicing these units. The intersection at Anders and Teal is already treacherous in winter conditions, leading to frequent vehicle immobilization every time it snows. With increased traffic from this development, accidents are likely to rise.

Lakeview Heights is a West Kelowna rural neighbourhood surrounded by Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). The introduction of such high-density housing will not only disrupt our peaceful community but also pose significant threats to local wildlife. Light pollution from this large-scale development could potentially harm bees and bats crucial for pollination in nearby vineyards and orchards.

We urge you to reconsider this decision that threatens the safety and character of Lakeview Heights. Please protect our rural neighbourhood from unsuitable high-density developments that disregard local geography, infrastructure, wildlife needs and community well-being. Sign this petition today!
