Stop the Approval of Permit WQ0016660001 and Protect Canyon Lake, Fischer & Potters Creek

The Issue

We, the people, stand against TCEQ's proposed approval of permit WQ0016660001, which could lead to the dumping of up to 600,000 gallons of treated sewage every day into Potters Creek and Canyon Lake. Not only does this jeopardize the pristine condition of the lake, but it also risks the contamination and pollution of local water wells that thousands of residents rely on for clean water. Beyond this, there's also the potential to degrade property values in the surrounding area due to environmental harm, as well as negative impacts on tourism.

According to the permit application, this water WILL contain among other things suspended solids, ammonia and E. Coli!

Canyon Lake, well known for its clear, cavernous water, welcomes over 2.5 million visitors yearly (source: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). To protect this key attraction and the environmental health of the region, we must prevent the potential harm that could be brought by the permit WQ0016660001.

The proposed permit would degrade the quality of life for those who live in the area and disrupt the habitats of countless local species, including Bald Eagles. All for the sake of dumping "treated water," the long-term effects of which are uncertain at best.

Join us in standing against the proposed permit WQ0016660001. Let's protect Canyon Lake, keep our water wells clean, and preserve property values. Sign this petition today and make your voice heard.
