Stop the Approval of Aurizons Coal Train Depot in Rosewood QLD.

Stop the Approval of Aurizons Coal Train Depot in Rosewood QLD.
The issue
I am a resident of Rosewood, QLD, Australia, and my community is under threat. The Ipswich City Council is about to approve the establishment of an Aurizon Coal Train Crew Depot next to the Bowls Club at 83 Mill Street. The depot will enable crew changes for approximately 20 coal trains with 40 to 50 carriages each in our residential area daily. This decision was made without notifying local residents or considering the impact on our lives.
The noise generated by these trains stopping and starting is louder than a jackhammer for each carriage - a level of noise pollution that can severely affect mental health and overall quality of life. Yet, despite this significant concern, the Ipswich city council development and town planning team have stated they do not care about the noise that will be generated from this train corridor.
This isn't just about noise pollution; it's also about property values. With such disruptive activity in our neighborhood, many residents fear their properties' worth will decrease significantly.
We are not against progress or development but believe it should not come at such high cost to residents' mental health, peace of mind, property value or without proper consultation with those affected.
We urge you to join us in calling on Ipswich City Council to reconsider their decision regarding Aurizon train depot approval and halt coal trains operation in our Township. Please sign this petition today - your support could make all the difference for our community's future wellbeing.
