Thank you again for signing the petition to stop the annexation of Jessamine County land into the city of Nicholasville. Annexation allows the proposed subdivision to connect and use our city resources, including water, sewer, electricity, streets, and public safety (police, fire, and safety officers). Without annexation, the subdivision cannot use any city resources. This decision rests solely on the vote of our five commissioners: Mayor Alex Carter, Bethany Davis-Brown, Derek Knight, Patty Teater, and Pete Sutherland. As it's an election year in 2026, we need to inform them of our opposition to adding more subdivisions off Keene Road/169 between 68 and 27 until the road is improved to handle the existing traffic. Keene Road, designed for 5,000 vehicles daily, saw over double that amount in 2023 (10,513) and is continuing to increase.
Contact your elected officials and let them know do not want any land on 1549 Keene Road property annexed into the city until we can make improvements to Keene Road, our infrastructure, and safety of our current residents. Below are the email addresses of our 5 city elected commissioners and an optional email you may copy and paste to show your opposition to this annexation.

Elected Commissioner,
I am respectfully submitting my opposition to the annexation of any land on the property located at 1549 Keene Road into the city, pending improvements to Keene Road, the adjacent subdivisions, our infrastructure, and the safety of our current residents. I would appreciate being kept informed regarding the date of the City Commission meeting at which this decision will be brought to a vote. Thank you for your service to our community.
