The Paris Mountain property, situated on Altamont Road and Buncombe Road, is under threat of annexation and development into a hotel resort. This plan is a violation of the current zoning ordinances of Greenville County, which have designated this land as an "Environmentally Sensitive District - Paris Mountain (ESDPM)." This designation limits developmental activity to single-family housing in order to preserve the natural beauty and recreation opportunities that Paris Mountain offers to all citizens of South Carolina. The annexation and the subsequent hotel development will undermine the ecological importance of this place and will rob the citizens of their serene recreational spot. Furthermore, the proposed hotel project disregards the enjoyment of local residents and the well-being of native wildlife in favor of commercial interests. We demand that plans for annexation and development be halted to ensure the preservation of Paris Mountain.
