Twenty (20) of the thirty eight ( 38 ) neglected animals seized by the New York State Troopers from Blue Star Farm were Thoroughbred racehorses reportedly suffering from severe malnutrition, stunted growth, and other serious medical problems. The neglected Thoroughbred horses and other animals were transported to Godspeed Horse Hostel, a 501c3 Non Profit rescue located in Dutchess County, New York for emergent medical intervention, and a careful re-feeding program to try and save their lives.
March 17, 2020 New York State Troopers arrested Andrea Nussinow, owner/operator of Blue Star Thoroughbred Breeding Farm in Columbia County, New York charged with 35 counts of " injuring, torturing, and starving" the animals in violation of Federal and New York State laws prohibiting animal cruelty. Reportedly 12 animals subsequently died, including a Thoroughbred Broodmare.
To date, Paul Czajka, District Attorney of Columbia County has not prosecuted Andrea Nussinow for 35 counts of Animal Cruelty charges, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of 12 animals. This is Nussinow's second arrest for Animal Cruelty after the "botched" Grand Jury held in 2017.
