N.Y. Thoroughbred Breeder arrested for 35 counts of Animal Cruelty

The accused Animal Abuser/NY Thoroughbred Breeder in Columbia County already has new horses in her custody, and has not been prosecuted for the most recent arrest in 2020 for Animal Cruelty violations.

The New York State Troopers made an arrest on 3/17/20 charged with 35 counts of Animal Cruelty, 12 dead animals, including a Thoroughbred Broodmare, but no prosecution by the District Attorney's Office...again.

There is a glaring pattern with this Animal Cruelty case.

Clermont, New York – On March 17, 2020, the New York State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office arrested Andrea Nussinow, age 57, of Clermont, for thirty-five counts of Agriculture and Markets Law section 353 the Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, or failure to provide proper sustenance, an unclassified misdemeanor.

On December 2, 2019, the State Police in Livingston received a complaint of possible animal neglect on Nevis Road in the town of Clermont.  Investigation led to the endorsement of three search warrants for the property which were all executed in the month of January 2020.  Twenty horses, six sheep, two goats, two cows, one donkey, and seven cats were seized from the property as a result.  All animals were taken in by Godspeed Horse Rescue to be cared for in Dutchess County, New York. 

Continued investigation with the help of local and State veterinary professionals along with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office led to the subsequent arrest of Andrea Nussinow on March 17, 2020.

Andrea Nussinow was arraigned before the Columbia County Court and released on her own recognizance.

Columbia County continues failing to protect the animals, as the taxpayers pick up the growing tab for legal fees, all out of pocket expenses to care for the neglected animals were paid for Godspeed Horse Hostel, a 501c3 non profit and several Volunteers, and still there has been no prosecution by the Columbia County District Attorney's Office, and the Offender has not been held accountable.  

It's Ground Hog Day in Columbia County, as Federal and State laws against Animal Cruelty are routinely not enforced by the designated local  authorities, the animals are not being protected as required under the law, and the Offenders are not being prosecuted.

54,332 Supporters of "STOP the Animal Neglect in Columbia County" demand justice for the animals allegedly injured, tortured,  starved, and killed, and do not want these heinous animal cruelty cases brushed under the rug by the District Attorney's Office in Columbia County, N.Y. any longer.
