# Petition to Protect Pigeons in Brampton, Ontario

 

**To: The City of Brampton, Brampton Animal Services, and the Appropriate Animal Welfare Authorities**

 

## Request for Immediate Investigation and Protection of Pigeons

 

We, the undersigned residents and concerned members of the public, are asking the City of Brampton and the appropriate animal welfare authorities to investigate a serious animal-welfare concern involving pigeons being kept on elevated platforms and poles in Brampton, Ontario.

 

It has been brought to our attention that pigeons are being kept on high platforms and that some of the birds appear to have their feet restrained with string or other material.

 

Restraining a bird by its foot presents a serious risk of injury. The string could become tangled, cut into the bird's leg or foot, prevent the bird from moving normally, or leave the bird unable to escape predators or seek food and water. Being confined at a significant height may also expose the birds to additional danger.

 

We respectfully ask the appropriate authorities to:

 

* Investigate the situation as soon as possible.

* Determine whether the pigeons are being restrained or tethered and, if so, whether this violates animal-welfare laws or regulations.

* Ensure that any birds suffering from injury, entanglement, or neglect receive appropriate veterinary care.

* Remove any unsafe restraints and ensure the birds can move freely and safely.

* Take whatever enforcement or protective action is appropriate if animal-welfare violations are found.

 

These birds are living creatures capable of experiencing pain, fear, injury, and distress. They deserve to be treated humanely and protected from unnecessary suffering.

 

We are not asking for unnecessary punishment or confrontation. We are simply asking for a proper investigation and for the welfare of these animals to be taken seriously.

 

**Please investigate this matter and ensure these pigeons are safe.**
