Not only are strays impacted but human decency is impacted as well.  If things do not change, there will be continuous uncontrolled abuse of strays, putting Malaysia in a bad light.  Abuse of stray animals, dogs in particular, has been going on for a long time in Malaysia.  The most recent incident happened at the Kuala Langat pound.  This was followed by another incident, in Kulim, Kedah where  municipal workers abused strays while forcibly removing them.   For the sake of the strays, the people of Malaysia, this has to stop.

We urge the Government to (i) educate and train workers to adopt humane practices when handling strays, revamp policies that directly or indirectly abuse or kill strays; (ii) introduce additional legislation to prevent abuse of strays; (iii) enforce legislation (stiff fines, jail time) on those who abuse animals; (iv) help Rescues financially to neuter or spay strays.
