Stop the Abuse of Dogs at Ridglan Farms in Mount Horeb, WI (Dane County)
The Issue
Please take a stand for the thousands of beagles who are suffering right now behind closed doors at Ridglan Farms in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.
Ridglan breeds dogs for experimentation, and experiment on them. Recent examples include:
- Force feeding dogs laundry detergent (because we don't already have detergent that works?!) to the point that they vomited blood and died
- Injecting dogs with rabies for a new rabies vaccine so Merck can make more money (we already have an effective rabies vaccine)
- Force tube feeding dogs an artificial sweetener (again, we already have plenty) to the point that their testicles shriveled up and they died
Dogs are kept in tiny 2'x4' rusty wire cages their entire lives - often 6-7 years - and spin in circles nonstop for hours on end (there are videos); they often sit in their feces and urine and have raw, infected pad pads, and severe respiratory issues due to the severe ammonia smell
Examples of documented, blatant abuse from inspectors include:
- Ripping dog's vocal chords out without anesthesia, then throwing the dogs back into cages covered in blood (untrained staff)
- Pinning dogs down and cutting out an infected "cherry eye" eye gland without anesthesia (untrained staff)
- Allowing dogs to fight each other; dogs were found mutilated and dead
The USDA (Tom Vilsack is the head - he is a huge supporter of big ag and factory farms) supports animal testing lobbying groups; the vivisection industry gets paid billions (19.6 billion in one year!) of taxpayer dollars each year.
This is horrific and unacceptable. Please sign your name.
I am personally attending the Special Prosecutor Evidentiary Hearing at the Dane County Courthouse on Wednesday, July 10th at 9am, to show my support. Wayne Hsiung, a respected attorney and animal welfare advocate, will present evidence to a judge of animal cruelty violations by Ridglan Farms. We will be asking the judge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and charge Ridglan Farms. See event details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/7435218456595561
I will print this list and will be taking it to the courthouse on Wednesday morning to show that Wisconsinites are not ok with this happening in our backyard. If you're not from Wisconsin, please still sign, as this is really a national issue that extends beyond Wisconsin.
Thank you!
Emily (Neenah, WI)
p.s. The USDA has known about this abuse for many, many years, and has done nothing about it - even with documented reports from USDA inspectors indicating the abuse. This is our chance to take a stand.
