A developer called Gigawatt Development wants to build a 900-acre AI data center complex in Pahrump, Nevada, and they're moving fast.

Their company, Manse Technology Campus LLC, was incorporated on July 15, 2026. Ten days later, they held a community Q&A at the Nye County Commission chambers. An open house is set for August 3 at a local casino. That's not transparency. That's a sales pitch.

The project comes with big promises: tens of millions in property tax revenue, thousands of jobs, and relief for Nye County's $7 million debt. But that debt is less than 0.04% of Gigawatt's proposed $18.4 billion investment. If they can promise to fund our schools for generations, they can balance the county's books before a single permit is signed.

What they can't promise is our water. Even under their own projections, the complex would consume up to 300 acre-feet of groundwater per year, enough to supply between 600 and 900 Pahrump households. In a region where residents have long struggled with access to clean, reliable drinking water, that's not a footnote. That's the whole story.

Communities in Reno and Boulder City accepted similar promises. Now Reno is under a moratorium after a public backlash, and Boulder City is fighting a backroom deal the developer cut with the Bureau of Land Management when residents said no.

Pahrump deserves better than a rushed approval process designed to outpace public resistance. Sign this petition to tell the Nye County Commission: do not approve the Manse Technology Campus without a full, independent environmental and water impact review, and a real community vote.
