Hi All,
I sincerely ask that you read and consider this entire update.
A reminder that the Board of Adjustment meeting will be held tomorrow (Wednesday). Details are as follows:
Board of Adjustment Meeting
Wednesday, October 18th at 7:00 pm at Whitted Human Services Building, Donna S. Baker Meeting Room at 300 W. Tryon Street, Hillsborough.
NOW... I more than understand that this seemingly never-ending rezoning / Special Use permit discussion about this Lawrence Road property is exhausting. I truly get it. HOWEVER... please take into consideration the following when, hopefully, you consider if attending this meeting is worth going out of your way:
1) If your initial concerns and engagement in this effort / campaign was simply to stop the owner and applicant from forcing the town of Hillsborough to provide water and sewer services (which Hillsborough as a whole could not reasonably afford) to the site in order to support the charter school(s) and now that, that problem has gone away for you... this neighborhood fought for you.
2) If your initial concerns and engagement in this effort / campaign was to simply stop a charter school(s) from drawing precious resources away from the Orange County school system (where a student capacity problem does not currently exist) and now that, that problem has gone away for you... this neighborhood fought for you.
I humbly ask you... are you willing to continue to engage or re-engage in this effort to show your support for this neighborhood? If not, I hope you fully appreciate that, if approved, this neighborhood will have to live with the traffic, the noise, the safety concerns, etc. (24) hours of the day, (7) days a week for nearly every day of any given year. If this were your neighborhood, how would you feel about the current development proposal?
Finally, please understand that this is not a neighborhood that is full of families who can afford the private amenities this proposed recreational complex is currently designed to offer. However, this I also know: what many in this neighborhood lack in the form of financial means, is more than offset by the passion and upstanding character it is made of.
Please do what you can to attend tomorrow night's meeting and then you can witness, for yourselves, what I have tried to express in this update regarding the character of this neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Matt
