Stop the 15 min cities project in Edmonton

Stop the 15 min cities project in Edmonton
The Issue
Hello
I am starting this petition in order to put a stop to the proposed 15 min cities pilot project in Edmonton, Alberta.
I'm sure many of you do not know what exactly a 15 min city is. Please read this in its entirety and share it with all your contacts in Canada, as there are many municipalities all across Canada that have signed up for this already.
If you go to the city of Edmonton's website it explains all the pros of 15 min cities, but none of the cons. They have purposely omitted the cons because everyone would revolt otherwise and it would never go through. The city has already planned out 15 zones throughout Edmonton.
So I'm here to tell you about the cons. one of which is that you will not be allowed to leave your zone without a permit, which you will have to apply for. You will only be allowed a certain number of permits per year, and a permit is used for each zone you travel through. So for example, if you want to drive from the north side of Edmonton to Millwoods, it may take 4 permits for a one-way trip.
If you use all your permits then you won't be able to go to your place of work, or you'll be fined $75 per zone.
Or in my case as a market vendor if I want to go to Bellveue Community hall, I have to drive through 2 zones 1 way. For a 2 day market that will take 8 permits. Not only will this limit each of us on say the markets we vend at but on how many customers are going to come to each market.
Now if you live outside of the city, are you even going to be able to come into the city to attend a market, or go to work? How many zones will you have to drive through? How many permits will it it take for one market? And what if you want to go for a drive or visit freinds/family? What will that cost you in permits or fines?
From the city website this is not approved yet by council. We have until August to stop this or they will get approval to start this in 2024. It will start slowly as there is alot of road construction and surveillance to be installed. But please understand that this is not in our best interests at all. We must unite together to stop this before it even starts. It has already started in the UK. Now people there are retaliating.
If you doubt any of what I'm saying then I encourage you to lok up 15 min cities on social media, google, the WEF website and the city of Edmonton website, where its sugar coated.
Please sign this petition so we can stop this before it becomes our reality.
