The Issue

As a local resident of Haringey, I object to Planning Application - HGY/2026/1854

Haringey Council originally approved this corner of Green Lanes and Colina Road as a new public green space, with planning conditions requiring high-quality design, landscaping and an active street frontage across the Evergreen development that would enhance the local area.

TfL is now seeking to replace that promised green space with a large transformer building by applying for a Certificate of Lawfulness—a process that gives local residents no opportunity to object or be consulted.

We believe this proposal should not be approved because:

The promised green space is being lost.
Residents and the wider community have been denied a proper say.
The building will create noise, vibration and visual harm next to homes and a West Green surgery.
TfL has not demonstrated that less harmful alternative locations have been properly considered.
The proposal appears to conflict with the original planning approval, which required high-quality landscaping and an active frontage on Green Lanes.
This is a significant change from what residents and the local community were promised and should be considered through a full planning application, not a Certificate of Lawfulness.

We call on Haringey Council to reject the Certificate of Lawfulness application, require TfL to submit a full planning application, and give local people the opportunity to have their voices heard before any decision is made.
