Hi Petition Signers,

Over 5,000 Signatures in 7 days! Next Goal 7,500!

Thank you to everyone who has shared this story and petition, however there is still more that can be done!

As a reminder the ACMA is taking Public Feedback on the proposed changes by the Minister. The closing date for submissions is COB, Tuesday 8 October 2024.

ACMA - Proposal to amend the ECS Determination

Please ensure your submissions are formal and sufficiently outline your concerns.
The Consultation Paper has a series of Questions being asked by the ACMA.

It's very important that you also contact your Local Member, Federal Senators and the Communications Minister.

Only the Minister can stop this from going ahead!

The ACMA can only interpret the direction they've received by the Minister.

Ultimately, the Communications Minister needs to issue the ACMA with new instructions that both protect public safety & the interests of consumers.

Please share this Petition and the video Hugh Jeffreys made about this issue as much as possible. Including on reddit, twitter, facebook etc.
Please also share it with tech & news media and other tech YouTube channels.

Thank you to those who have already done so.

Without noise and public backlash this will go ahead and perfectly working 4G and 5G devices will be blocked from all mobile services.

It is confirmed that Optus is already blocking devices! Customers have received as little as 7 days notice to replace their 4G device! Their 3G Shutdown isn't until 28 October! (See the Medium Post on this issue)

Optus is blocking all services to devices they deem 'affected'.

The new rules are still in the draft stage and have not been finalised so it's hard to understand how Optus can behave this way.

If you are an Optus network customer and your device has been blocked please complain to the ACCC and TIO.

There is a fair and sensible approach that can be taken here, one that both ensures public safety and protects consumer rights.

Thanks for your interest and support with this.

James
