Hello! I’m a senior at timber creek high school in Keller texas. I was just informed from an email my mom received that we have a dress code for our graduation. Now before you turn your heads around, this dress code requires us to all wear black slacks, black shoes, and black socks. This is a public school, we should not be required to all wear the same outfit. I and a good amount of people have already bought our graduation outfits, mine being a few hundred dollars!! Our principal, Mr.Duhon is treating this school like a military institution. Here is what the email says: “Men should wear dark slacks, dark socks, dark
dress shoes, dress shirt (preferably white), and tie (optional). Ladies should also wear a dark dress/slacks and
dark dress shoes. No tennis shoes or shorts will be permitted. Students must adhere to all aspects of the school
dress code. The dress code will be strictly enforced, so please remind your student that he/she will not be
permitted to participate in the commencement exercise if the proper attire is not worn.”

If this petition gets the attention it needs, we will be allowed to wear whatever we would like to like we always have for YEARS. I hope our principal realizes he teaches a public school and NOT a private/military institution.
