Picture this. You or your daughter start her period but have nothing in your house. You go to the store and pay $11 for a pack of 18 tampons. The price is $7. We are paying $4 in taxes and it’s only increasing. This isn’t a normal sales tax;  this is a luxury tax. Women are being taxed on a necessity that the government deems as a luxury. People have to pay more for something that keeps us clean and safe. Families in poor parts of cities struggle to get by and cannot afford to buy these products; leading to unsanitary and life-threatening problems. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I have started a petition to get people aware of this problem and to be able to help me stop this tax. I, along with 3.8 billion women, know how this feels because we go through this each month. Having US unsanitary causes infectious diseases, destroying a women’s future. Help women AND men save money and even lives by getting rid of the Tampon Tax!
