Stop Taiwan from recognizing the State of Palestine

Stop Taiwan from recognizing the State of Palestine
The Issue
It was a profound embarrassment and a deeply unsettling experience to witness part of Israel labeled as "State of Palestine" at the National Palace Museum in Taipei. As a resident of Taiwan, it was painful to see such a distortion of history presented with the tacit endorsement of an institution that holds international prestige. This act does not only misrepresent geographical and political facts but significantly undermines Taiwan’s image as a nation that values historical accuracy and integrity.
The issue stems from a display in the museum, a place visited by tourists from all over the world, projecting an incorrect map that contradicts historical truths. Such inaccuracies not only convey false narratives but also contribute to the spread of misinformation on serious global issues. This kind of academic distortion can severely affect Taiwan’s international reputation, implying that the same type of historic misrepresentations imposed on Taiwan by foreign governments are being conducted within its borders.
Historically, Taiwan has been mischaracterized and mislabeled as a mere province of China, a claim that many believe diminishes its sovereignty and self-identity. Having the National Palace Museum mischaracterize Israel in a similar manner is incompatible with the values of many Taiwanese citizens and international visitors who pride themselves on upholding and respecting historical truths.
In order to preserve Taiwan's integrity and credibility, we must urge the relevant Taiwanese authorities to formally recognize the historical accuracies regarding Israel, West Bank, and Gaza, and not assign itself to political gesturing. By replacing the incorrect labels with accurate geographical and political representations, Taiwan can demonstrate its commitment to historical integrity and international respect.
I call upon all those who cherish truth and integrity to support this petition. Let us persuade the museum to rectify this misrepresentation and ensure that visitors understand the historical realities accurately. Please sign this petition to send a clear message: Taiwan stands for historical accuracy and does not succumb to political majoritarianism. Together, we can call for change that benefits both Taiwan’s reputation and the world's understanding of the complex history of the Middle East. Sign this petition now to make a difference.
