#KeepEyesOnSudan

The campaign promoting the handover of Sudan to the Rapid Support Forces militia is very troubling. It falsely claims that the only way to achieve peace and a negotiated solution is by surrendering to the militia and accepting its political conditions and demands. This deceptive approach relies on the notion of fait accompli and political rationality. Al-Bashir and his regime were seen as an inescapable reality, yet the majority of Sudanese people were determined to continue the fight against his dictatorship until they successfully overthrew him after enduring three decades of diverse forms of struggle.

Realistically, the presence of the militia in Sudan disrupts the normalcy, safety, and stability of life in the country. It is essential to recognize and uphold the fundamental rights of Sudanese individuals, including the right to life, security, ownership, and dignity. These rights should be regarded as non-negotiable. When it comes to negotiating with the usurper, the focus should only be on finding a solution that will lead to his removal and bring an end to the unfortunate circumstances that the Sudanese people have been forced into. But working on preserving and extending the militia presence, and ensuring the continuity of their influence, by blackmailing the Sudanese people with war, is a shameful complicity, and direct engagement in the militia fascism.

The opposition to war isn't concerned with the military triumph of one party over another or the expansion of military power of each. These are variables in an equation that those who hold a genuine stance against the war from the outset are essentially against. Opposing war means rejecting both sides and the use of weapons to forcefully impose a political agenda.

Ensuring the lives and safety of Sudanese should never be up for negotiation.
Evacuating Sudanese homes occupied by the Rapid Support Forces militia is a non-negotiable matter.
The safety and security of women and girls who are victims of systematic rape by militia members should not be subject to negotiation.
Returning Sudanese property that has been looted by the Rapid Support Forces Militia should not be up for negotiation.
The sovereignty of Sudanese women and men over their lands should not be up for negotiation.

Approaching the negotiation process with a realistic perspective involves recognizing that seeking peaceful resolutions does not equate to capitulating to the militia's demands or the ambitions of its leader. It is never possible to force Sudanese people into accepting and normalizing the ongoing violations and crimes.
