Taking Our Streets Back our Local Streets
Woodside, Queens has been under siege by Prostitutes strolling, some half-naked up and down local residential streets. Street Gangs supervising the sex workers while wearing masks are harassing neighbors, instilling fear. Robberies and break-ins are now common and at times over 50 sex workers walk the Prostitute Track on Roosevelt, 41 and Woodside Avenue's between 65th Streets and 74th Street. Two of the sex spots are in front of 2 local churches on Woodside Ave. NO MORE! The Residents have notified all elected officials and local police multiple times with no relief, so now they will

Dear Representatives,
We, the families residing in the community around 72nd Street and Woodside Avenue, Queens, write to you to express our deep concern and frustration regarding a situation that directly affects our safety, our peace of mind, and most importantly, our children’s well-being.
At the corner of 72nd Street and Woodside Avenue, there is a school that hundreds of children and young people attend every day. Unfortunately, only a few blocks away, specifically at 41st Avenue and 72nd Street, prostitution and related illegal activities have become a recurring and visible problem. This reality creates an unsafe and inappropriate environment for families who live and walk through the neighborhood, and especially for the students who are forced to witness scenes that are completely incompatible with a safe school and residential setting.
Individuals are soliciting people who pass by, making it difficult for pedestrians to safely walk on the sidewalk. They are loitering on the corner of 72nd St. and 41st Ave for extended periods, making it intimidating for residents, especially during morning school hours. Additionally, the ground around the area is littered with used condoms, empty beverage containers, and other trash, creating a sanitation issue.
As a community, we feel this situation has been ignored and normalized over time, yet the negative impact grows each day:
• Parents feel unsafe when dropping off their children.
• Children and youth are exposed to harmful and inappropriate situations.
• The overall sense of insecurity lowers the quality of life in our neighborhood.
With all due respect, we request immediate and sustained action to address this issue, including:
1. Increasing police presence and preventive patrols in the area.
2. Implementing control and prevention strategies to regulate night activities and limit permanence on public roads at sensitive times, along 41st Avenue and its surroundings, especially in residential areas and close to schools, in order to protect the safety of children and ensure the peace of mind of family.
3. Providing assurance to our community that our families, and especially our children, can grow up in a safe environment.
We sincerely thank you for your attention to this matter and reiterate our willingness to collaborate as a community in any solutions that may be required. We strongly believe that, with the support of our representatives and the local police, we can restore safety and dignity to our streets
Let's come together as a community to urge our leaders to take action. Every signature on this petition is a step towards reclaiming our streets and protecting our children. Sign now to support a safe and clean environment for all our families.
