Stop Stonewater massively hiking service charges in Sheltered Housing
Stop Stonewater massively hiking service charges in Sheltered Housing
The Issue
Elderly residents in sheltered housing schemes such as Windmill Court & Brain Court in Swindon have had the service charges increased by £100 per week by their landlord Stonewater Housing Association.
The rise means that elderly residents on a fixed income dependent on the state pension, housing benefit and pension credit face real financial hardship.
Stonewater are passing on increases in fuel prices to residents in full who unlike most of the country do not receive any financial support for fuel prices or an energy cap.
We also call upon the government to urgently legislate to provide financial support for individuals who get their energy via communal heat networks to ensure they receive comparable support to other domestic energy users who benefit from the energy price cap.
