STOP STONEBRIDGE DEVELOPMENT PLANS! 2,500 SIGNATURE GOAL BY MAY 9TH!
The Issue
- Stop the increase of traffic cutting through Aberdeen Rd., Merrivale Dr., Forest Ln and Sunset Ln to maintain the tranquility of our neighborhood!
- Stop the building of 28 additional homes! 4 of the existing homes (105 total) are currently FOR SALE!
- Stop the disruption of the environment, the parks, the waterway, the wildlife, and the local community neighboring Bill Richards Park, Blydenburgh Park and the Nissequogue River!
- Keep the contractual promise to maintain the integrity of the golf course to stay no less than a 18-hole golf course to the year 2060!
- Stop the overturning of the covenant made to Stonebridge homeowners in 1999 to not EVER build more buildings on the property!

Dear Supervisor Wehrheim, The Honorable Members of the Smithtown Town Council, the Honorable Members of the Smithtown Planning Board and Director David Barnes,
The neighboring community of Stonebridge Estates is strongly and adamantly opposed to plans submitted by the owner of the Stonebridge Country Club and Golf Links, to the Town of Smithtown, to abolish or significantly modify a restrictive covenant put in place by the Smithtown Town Board in 1999. The restrictive covenant provides that so long as the Golf Course Property continues to be utilized as a Golf Course and Clubhouse, the maximum number of residential dwellings is 105 units. There are already 105 homes in the Stonebridge Estates Community. It is also the applicant's intention to modify the golf course which is a violation of the original prospectus which was filed with the New York State Attorney General in 1999, which states, the course must remain a par 70, 18-hole golf course to the year 2060.
It was evident by the overwhelming turnout of the community at the March 20th Town Board Hearing, the message was clear, THE COMMUNITY IS 100% OPPOSED TO ANY CHANGES WHATSOEVER! You may or may not be aware of all the additional residents that were not admitted access to the room due to room capacity and many residents that were not able to attend as they were still away for the winter. Several Smithtown local papers as well as Newsday have written articles about this proposed application. Thousands of local residents are vehemently opposed to any of the proposed modifications that will greatly impact the environment, the parks, the waterway, the wildlife and the local community as a the neighboring Bill Richards Park, Blydenburgh Park and the Nissequogue Riverto the extent that it is today. We are simply requesting that the covenants put in place in 1999 remain, so we can maintain our community. We respectfully request that you deny the application in its entirety.
Respectfully.
