Stop Staveley Solar Farm Rutland

The Issue

Rutland Solar Action Group is in favour of renewable energy, but opposes Staveley Solar Farm which would result in the loss of 200 acres of farmland.

We believe solar panels should go on roofs, not farmland.

Please sign our petition AND object to the planning application by April 12, 2024. Anyone can comment and object. Visit the Rutland County Council planning website and enter planning reference 2024/0300/MAF

Staveley Solar Farm – near Pilton, Morcott and Wing – is one of four industrial solar farms proposed for Rutland, England's smallest county, that could eventually cover 2-3% of the county’s land area, way beyond the 0.3% national target set by government to meet net zero climate goals.

Joint developer Anglian Water, which is 85% foreign owned, will receive virtually all the energy generated enabling it to reduce costs and increase profitability, while simultaneously increasing water prices for consumers to pay for sewage spills and excessive executive pay.

Together, as a community, we’re campaigning and raising funds to stop this industrial development and corporate profiteering, protect Rutland farmland and food security, and force the Government to produce joined-up policy and regulation for renewable energy. Sign now to show your support...
