Stop Stagecoach cutting the number 9, Sidmouth, Sidbury, Honiton bus route after 7pm
The Issue
Stagecoach have just announced that they will be cutting all buses going to Sidford, Sidbury and Honiton after 7pm in the evening. This bus route is vital as it is used by workers and villagers to access Sidmouth the main town, therefore helping the businesses in the town centre by spending money. A lot of shift workers will not be able to get home at the end of the day. It is also used by people in Sidmouth to get to local pubs and restaurants in the villages so is vital for their income.
The road between Sidford and Sidbury is too dangerous to walk day or night. There are no footpaths and no lighting.
This news comes after Stagecoach announce it has "firmly returned to growth" following recovering customers demands after the pandemic as revenues rose to £1.2 billion. The group saw underlying pre-tax profits more than double to £44.1 million for the year to April 30th up from £17 million the previous financial year.
Please sign the petition for the community of Sidmouth and surrounding villages.
