I’m incredibly moved and deeply grateful to share some wonderful news about Ryan’s journey, made possible through your compassion, support, and powerful advocacy. Thanks to each of you, Ryan was able to deliver a Change.org petition with the highest number of signatures ever collected for a Spokane-area petition, surpassing an astounding 6,100 signatures in less than four days! This remarkable achievement underscores how deeply our community cares, rallying swiftly and powerfully around Ryan and his family during their time of critical need.
In an equally heartwarming turn of events, we received news today that several of Ryan’s generous coworkers have donated shared leave hours. Furthermore, Spokane County has made the compassionate decision to rescind the Loudermill letter and allow Ryan to continue his unpaid medical leave through the full duration of his FMLA leave, now extending until at least August 30th.
Ryan and Mikkel extend heartfelt gratitude to Ryan’s thoughtful coworkers who donated their leave hours, to each individual who signed, shared, and passionately advocated for the petition, to council 2 and Ryan’s Union rep, Jimmy Dorrantes , and to the officials and commissioners who listened diligently and acted with compassion and integrity.
While this is a significant victory and a vital relief for Ryan and his family, a long journey remains ahead. Ryan and Mikkel will continue to need our support as Ryan progresses through his medical trial and ongoing treatments. If you are able, please consider offering continued support at their GoFundMe page: GoFundMe.com/ryanandkel
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Ryan, Mikkel, and our entire family. Your kindness and strength have made a genuine difference.
Wags,
America’s Veterinarian—Dr. Marty Becker, DVM
