Stop Speeding on Larchmont

Stop Speeding on Larchmont
The Issue
Help Us Make Larchmont Safer for Our Kids
If you live on Larchmont (or even stepped foot on it), you already know the speeding is a real problem.
With nearly 3,000 cars passing through our neighborhood every day and kids playing outside all spring and summer, the danger is real. For years, concerned residents like us have been urging the City of Lakewood to take action, but the radar sign that was installed simply isn’t effective in curbing the speeding vehicles.
What makes this even more frustrating is the data. Larchmont carries more than double the daily traffic of every single street in Lakewood that has already received speed tables. Streets like Lauderdale (653 cars per day), Waterbury (707), Wyandotte (766), and Andrews (1,174) all qualified for physical intervention. Larchmont sees 2,300 to 2,800 cars every single day on a 23 foot wide residential street. Our kids deserve at least the same protection those neighborhoods have.
It’s disheartening to witness how the growing traffic endangers our children’s safety and puts residents at risk daily. We need a concrete solution, and installing speed tables throughout Larchmont can significantly slow down vehicles and increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Speed tables are a proven measure to reduce speeding and prevent accidents in high traffic residential areas.
The City’s traffic calming program mandates that a demonstration of resident support is necessary before any action can be taken.
This is where we need your help.
By signing this petition, you’re not only supporting the creation of a safer environment for our kids but also making it clear to city officials that the community stands united in demanding change.
Please join us in this crucial initiative. Your signature can make a real difference! It takes just 30 seconds to sign and help protect our community from the dangers of reckless speeding. Let’s make Larchmont a safe haven for all its residents.
Sign this petition and urge the City of Lakewood to prioritize the safety of our families by installing speed tables on Larchmont.
