It is approaching one year since Lucy passed away. I want to thank all of you who took the time to sign and share this petition. It seems like it's going to be a long road until any change is done. Here is an update.....
I continue to contact the office of councilman Dennis Dunne Sr. on a regular basis (as well as the office of town supervisor Donald X Clavin, but from what I found Dunne is the one who is in charge of our area and his office will actually get back to me.) It seems any change all falls on traffic control. Tom Reed is the head of traffic control. He was assigned the job to survey the area. Unfortunately, he is not given the proper equipment and has to survey the area by sitting in his car and counting the cars that pass by. And again unfortunately he decided to do this in February when traffic is at its low.
On June 20th a young boy was riding his bike on Oakfield Ave not far from where Lucy died and he was struck by a car. He was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. After this happened the town decided to get an outside engineering consulting firm to assist with surveying the area. I have not heard any updates on the conclusion of this survey but I am truly hoping for the best.
Again, thank you all for your help. Lucy was my family and is so greatly missed everyday. If you have the time and would like to, here is the information to email and/or call to ask for signage to be put up on Oakfield Ave in Wantagh NY.
