Sparx Maths should be banned in all schools across England due to its excessive demands on students, its negative impact on mental health, and its lack of necessity in a balanced education. While the platform may have been designed to reinforce mathematical skills, it instead creates an overwhelming workload that leaves students exhausted and demotivated. Many report spending hours completing assignments, often at the expense of other subjects, extracurricular activities, and personal well-being. The system’s rigid structure forces students to achieve 100% accuracy before progressing, which discourages independent problem-solving and turns learning into a repetitive and frustrating task rather than an engaging experience. Furthermore, traditional teaching methods and alternative digital resources already provide effective ways to learn maths without the unnecessary pressure that Sparx imposes. Education should support students’ academic growth without negatively affecting their mental and physical health. Therefore, Sparx Maths should be removed from schools, allowing teachers to adopt more flexible and student-friendly approaches to learning.
