Stop South Brooks Solar Farm industrialising more prime farm land on Romney Marsh

Stop South Brooks Solar Farm industrialising more prime farm land on Romney Marsh
The Issue
The latest new-breed mega solar energy and battery storage power station announced for Romney Marsh puts up to 2,700 acres of mostly prime farm land under threat of development for the next 60 years. This is one of three mega renewable energy schemes proposed for Romney Marsh that puts nearly 10% of Romney Marsh land area under threat of industrial development.
Due to its size, South Brooks Solar Farm is considered a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) and will ultimately be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and New Zero, currently Ed Miliband.
The land parcels that have been optioned for the power station include farm land close to Lydd Airport, the existing Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm, the Action Watersports and Go Karting facilities, and bordering land that has been optioned for Low Carbon's 1500 acre South Kent Energy Park.
For thousands of residents living on Romney Marsh, our homes, lives and our communities are under threat from all these proposals. South Brooks Solar Farm, like the other schemes at Newchurch (Shepway Energy Park) and Old Romney, is poised to transform our beautiful countryside into an industrial dystopian landscape. Instead of the lush green fields that have defined our historic agricultural region for centuries, now we'll be surrounded by acres of reflective glass and large battery containers wherever we look. Grass will give way to glass, and green to gleam.
The cumulative impact of solar and battery power plants like South Brooks Energy Park will damage the environment, wildlife and ecology and rural economy of Romney Marsh for generations to come.
This is a call to protect our home, our heritage, and our future. Join us in opposing the South Brooks Energy Farm and preserving the unique beauty of the Romney Marsh. Please sign this petition and help us save our countryside.
