Chronic Kidney disease (CKD) is a terrible thing for those suffering with this. Every day millions of people are suffering with CKD and besides the actual disease, there are many other illness they have to deal with caused by the disease. There is no cure a transplant is a treatment.

The general public have no idea what CKD patients have to deal with. They have to have a machine constantly cleaning their kidneys to keep alive and spend many hours going back and forwards to Dialysis units, having surgery on different parts of their body so the solutions can go into their body, going to hospital appointments, It is a daily fight and that is why they are called ‘Warriors’.

I have a daughter who has suffered with this disease for 25yrs and I have watched her battle this every day. She has had a transplant which has sadly failed and is back on the transplant list again, she has angina, had strokes and a heart attack. She has raised two children while dealing with this, my grandchildren have grown up as carers. She amazes me every day how she deals with this chronic disease and leaves me standing.

The current story lines on Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Eastenders are trivialising this terrible disease and causing a lot of upset.

It is about time that Soap Dramas has a storyline about any disease that they have to factually research and portray it with respect for sufferers of this devastating disease.
