Friends,
Earlier this week an onshore oil pipeline by the California coast ruptured, spilling possibly 21,000 gallons of oil -- much of which seeped into the Pacific Ocean near Santa Barbara.
Also, a new scientific report found that after the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon spill dolphins swimming in the oil-contaminated waters suffered unusual lung lesions and died at disturbingly high rates because of petroleum pollution.
It's impossible to ignore the horrible evidence of what accompanies dangerous offshore oil and gas development -- oil spills and degraded oceans. Yet, right now Shell is readying its drilling rigs for exploratory drilling in the U.S. Arctic Ocean.
We must speak up now to protect the rugged, isolated Arctic Ocean. Before it's too late.
