Monkeypox has reached Dallas. Please reach out to your elected officials, and the venues to STOP hosting/promoting 'circuit' events/parties because:

1) It is against the Texas Penal Code, Chapter 21, Sexual Offenses and Chapter 43, Public Indecency.

2) It promotes public sex/indecency/lewdness/exposure and disease since it encourages attendees to wear certain gear exposing bottoms/rears.

3) There are no laws that would would prevent a minor attending such events. 

Say No to 'Circuit Events'! Keep Texas Civil!

Please study the following to gain more understanding about the Daddyland Dallas 2022 Festival and related information.

On July 6, the Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) reported it first locally transmitted case of the Monkeypox virus. DCHHS's public release says:

"Public Health officials have identified individuals who have had direct contact with the patient and are monitoring them for symptoms of infection. In addition, CDC is working with the airline and state and local health officials to contact airline passengers and others who may have been in contact with the patient on board a flight from Mexico to Dallas."

Furthermore, CBS News DFW reported:

"The Dallas County health department has reported its first locally transmitted case of the monkeypox virus after a man who attended the Daddyland Festival tested positive.

He traveled from out-of-state for the four-day, Fourth of July circuit party. Health officials said the man went to a Dallas hospital with a rash and was diagnosed through laboratory testing done. Given the size of the Daddyland Festival, others who attended the events could have been exposed to monkeypox and, possibly, infected.  

Here's a breakdown of the festival's schedule: 

Wednesday – The Round Up Saloon in Cedar Springs.

Thursday – Viva's Dallas from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Friday – Gilley's Dallas starting at 10 p.m. 

Saturday – Hawaiian Falls Garland for the Pool Party, followed by the Daddyland main party at Gilley's.

Sunday – Ferris Wheelers followed by the closing party at Gilley's.
Dallas County has previously reported four monkeypox cases among county residents.

All four of those cases have self-identified as gay men and reported a history of international travel."

"Daddyland Festival Dallas is the mother of all circuit parties made for daddy lovers! The event will see Dallas become party central for 4 days over the 4th of July weekend.

Slate describes what a Circuit Event is:

"For the uninitiated, circuit parties are large dance events predominantly thrown by and for gay men, typically associated with muscled and shirtless bodies, pounding music, drugs, and sex. These parties grew from the disco culture of the 1970s and ’80s, as those who loved them would travel the “circuit” of fabulous global destinations to participate. Stereotypes abound about the predominantly white and affluent men known to frequent circuit parties (often referred to as “circuit queens”), as well as the arguably shallow and exclusionary culture they bolster. But, as many scholars and activists have countered, these events hold an important place in gay history by providing a unique space for joy, community, sexual liberation, and even fundraising for causes like HIV/AIDS or LGBTQ youth homelessness. As such, circuit parties exemplify some of the best and worst dimensions of gay culture, all under the same disco ball."

A cross-sectional survey, conducted among 295 gay and bisexual men from the San Francisco Bay Area, who had attended a circuit party in the previous year indicates:

"One fourth of the men reported a drug "overuse" incident in the previous year. Nearly all respondents reported use of drugs during circuit party weekends, including ecstasy (75%), ketamine (58%), crystal methamphetamine (36%), gamma hydroxybutyrate or gamma butyrolactone (25%), and Viagra (12%). Two thirds of the men reported having sex (oral or anal), 49% reported having anal sex, and 28% reported having unprotected anal sex during the 3-day period. An association was found between use of drugs and sexual risk behavior. Prevention materials were observed at party events by some men; however, relatively few men used the materials. Common motivations for attending the parties were "to listen to music and dance" and "to be with friends." CONCLUSIONS: Intensive, targeted health promotion efforts are needed for gay and bisexual men who attend circuit parties."
