There is positive news to report regarding Bill H.1634 (STOP SEXUAL ASSAULTS BY ADULTS in positions of authority and trust in Massachusetts) Rep. Leigh Davis (3rd Berkshire District).

As a sad reminder, in Massachusetts it is not illegal for a teacher to have sex with their 16 year old students. But this Bill H.1634 would change that and finally make it illegal.  

Thanks to significant public support and action from people like you, Bill H.1634 has reported out favorably from the Judiciary Committee and has been referred to the House Ways and Means Committee.

This doesn't mean it is law yet, but this is a necessary and important step and a sign of real progress.

Moreover, H.1634 has now been redrafted and combines several related bills focused on protecting youth.

This new Bill H.4538 is an even more comprehensive and provides greater protections for the children of Massachusetts. And it has broader legislative support in that the co-sponsors are: Kenneth Gordon (21st Middlesex), Carole Fiola (6th Bristol), Natalie Blais (1st Franklin), James Eldridge (Middlesex & Worcester), John Gaskey (2nd Plymouth), Patrick Kearney (4th Plymouth), John Lawn Jr. (10th Middlesex), John Marsi (6th Worcester), and David Robertson (19th Middlesex).
