The Issue

Help stop the proposed development on the old UCL campus between Highgate Hill, Tollhouse Way, Archway Road and Lidyard Road.

Tell Islington:

-       No tower block more than twice the height of Archway Tower, creating more wind blight, overshadowing and impact on views across north and central London

-       Prioritise housing for families not student rooms costing £15,000 a year

-       Keep the historic buildings

-       Reduce the heights of the blocks on Highgate Hill

-       Maximise green space and sustainability

-       Provide quality accommodation fit for the next 100 years

The developer wants 300 student rooms, 125 private housing units, and is promising 125 "affordable" units at up to 80% of market rents (so not in fact very affordable) for an excess profit of £10s of millions.

With no student housing but 100 private units and 125 affordable units at 60% of market rents, calculations still show a good profit for the developer with lower rise buildings, less wind blight and overshadowing, but more green space and sustainability.

Archway deserves better - there is an opportunity for a new development to be proud of.
