STOP Selling Deadly Rat Poisons Near Wildlife Crossing!

The Issue

As residents of the beautiful cities of Calabasas and Agoura, we are surrounded by 60 miles of the stunning Santa Monica mountains, home to a diverse population of wildlife. We are fortunate to live in such a geographically rich area and wish nothing more than to preserve it for future generations. However, our precious wildlife is under threat due to the sale of toxic rat poisons at the Agoura Do It Yourself Center store. This store is located just one mile from where construction is underway for the world's largest wildlife crossing bridge - an initiative aimed at protecting our local wildlife

These poisons being sold such as Tom Cat, contains the dangerous neurotoxic rodenticide BROMETHALIN that in a singe dose, is  not only fatally poisonous to dogs and cats , it is deadly to our wildlife, and poses a significant risk as they enter the food chain and harm not only rats but also larger predators like mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and other wildlife. Predatory birds such as owls and hawks are also at risk.   According to research by National Geographic, secondary poisoning from rodenticides can lead to slow and painful deaths in animals that consume poisoned rodents.

We urge you, therefore, not just as concerned citizens but also as lovers of nature and animals, who appreciate it’s beauty and understand it’s balance, to stop selling these harmful substances immediately. Let us work together towards creating safer alternatives that do not harm our environment or its inhabitants.
