I am a mother, a business owner, and a young Black woman from Madadeni. For over two years, I have invested every ounce of effort and resources into my entrepreneurial journey, determined to build a better future for myself and my child. Despite my diligence, the obstacles have been daunting, compounded by the silence, rejection, and now baseless accusations of fraud orchestrated by SEDFA.

My reality is harsh. I have spent my child's SASSA money on transport to attend meetings, desperately trying to make our dreams a reality. I have lost both my co-directors in this arduous process. Yet, I have never wavered, holding on to the belief that my hard work will someday pay off.

I'm not asking for charity. All I seek is a fair chance—a chance for my voice to be heard, my business to be evaluated on its merits, without preconceived notions or discriminatory practices. They had been declining for 2 years, and now, in July 2026, they did it again. They are saying the signatures that we collected from the community are false and fraudulent(Collected 1 to 2 years ago). Now, faced with fraudulent allegations without the opportunity to defend myself, it is a clear indicator that they want me, and other women like me, to give up. But I refuse to do so. I am resolute in fighting not just for myself, but for all young women entrepreneurs out there who are being bullied by large organisations.

Young women like Nqobile need justice. We deserve an environment that supports, rather than undermines, our aspirations and innovations. We should not be battling the very entities that are supposed to support our entrepreneurial growth.

I urge the community, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to intervene and hold SEDFA accountable for its actions. There needs to be a thorough investigation into their practices to ensure that young women entrepreneurs are treated with fairness and respect and provided with genuine opportunities for advancement.
