SB 317 has been "parked" in the NC State Senate Rules committee. While we have been advised to stop calling our legislators, this bill has not been withdrawn.
Unfortunately, a new identical bill, H562, has been submitted.
Apparently some house members just couldn't accept the will of the people who have spoken loudly against "Workforce Housing" SB 317 that was parked by Sen. Rabon in the Rules Committee this past week, so they filed an almost identical new bill on April 5, tweaking the name to "Addressing the Housing Workforce Crisis. Bill History:
Tue, 4 Apr 2023 House: Filed
Wed, 5 Apr 2023 House: Passed 1st Reading
Wed, 5 Apr 2023 House: Ref to the Com on Local Government - Land Use, Planning and Development, if favorable, Finance, if favorable, Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House.
Hopefully, if this ends up being sent to the senate, it will be parked again.
