So why not introduce a system that provides this dignity consistently?

The solution lies in adopting the Finnish model, which offers secure, heated pods with a bed, shower, toilet, microwave, kettle, and toaster. This system ensures that homeless individuals have somewhere safe to go, rather than being criminalized for vagrancy when they resort to sleeping in tents. Current alternatives like caravan parks and houseboats are prohibitively expensive for those with limited resources, effectively prolonging their time without stable accommodation.

Implementing these pods initially in coastal areas and known UK tourist destinations would ensure that those who need it most are prioritised first. The pods would serve as temporary refuges, where individuals can stay as long as needed while they seek a permanent residence. Moreover, these secure pods deter undesirable activities, as entry is controlled, protecting residents from possible exploitation by pimps and dealers.

This initiative is not just about providing shelter; it's about restoring dignity and hope, showing that we, as a society, care for those who have found themselves without a home. By implementing this Finnish-style system, we can make a tangible difference for countless individuals who simply need a safe place to start rebuilding their lives.
