This petition is being initiated with the intention to spread it through the whole country. It will be submitted (InshaAllah) to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the broadcating companies Aaj Tak and India Today. We will also be petitioning Twitter to block his account.
The intention of this petition is to ban Rohit Sardana, the Aaj Tak journalist, from appearing in public spheres and offering vile opinions and stirring the public's sentiment. "Several police complaints filed against Aaj Tak journalist Rohit Sardana for derogatory tweet on revered women in Islam.
Several Muslim groups have filed police complaints against Aaj Tak journalist Rohit Sardana for his tweet disparagingly referring to women in Islam and Christianity including Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace be upon Him) wife Ayesha, daughter Fatima and Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
“This is another attempt to get cheap publicity. We don’t know if he tried to appease some of his political masters or ideological gurus but his words have hurt us deeply and we condemn it,” Mohammed Abbas Rizwan Khan, president of Muslims’ Association of Peace and Harmony was quoted by Times of India.
Sardana, who was frequently targetted on social media for his alleged Islamophobic tweets during his time with the Zee News, had recently joined India Today Group.
Naya Nagar police at Mumbai’s Mira Road has reportedly invoked IPC sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc) and 67 (IT) Act.
Kiran Kale, senior inspector at Versova police station, said, “We have received a written complaint from a Muslim organization and further action will be taken after investigations.”
This came after several Muslim groups protested against his tweet in Hyderabad with many social media users even tagging the AIMIM president and the local MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on Twitter.
Earlier this week, some Shia groups had lodged a complaint against Sardana for posting derogatory statements revered women of Islam. A case was filed under section 295 A of IPC at Dabeerpura Police Station.
“Mr Sardana had tweeted on Sunday, comparing the gods and deities to film tiles with provocative words” Dabeerpura police inspector was quoted by Deccan Chronicle.
Sardana was reacting to a similar tweet posted by his India Today colleague, Gaurav Sawant, who made similar references on the revered women in Islam."
