Hello Fellow Residents, Ratepayers and Community members

Over the weekend of 7th and 8th September 2024 Lismore St Hoxton Park had No Right turn signs put up with police enforcement.

IF YOU ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE PLEASE EMAIL Acting CEO of Liverpool Council Jason Breton

From messages that I have received NO Consultation was carried out with the local schools and now people are being fined with 2 demerit points.

This is an important lesson about taking away right turns.

Homeowners grew so annoyed at cars using their road as a “shortcut” that they barricaded it with wheelie bins. 👀

A furious war of words and claims of NIMBY-ism have broken out after a popular school run was blocked to ‘residents only’, with motorists now copping $272 fines simply for driving on the road.

Locals in southwest Sydney grew so annoyed at cars using their small street as a “shortcut” that they even resorted to barricading the road with wheelie bins.

In response to complaints about safety concerns and traffic volumes [by residents], the Liverpool  council has erected signs restricting right turns onto the road, which is a heavily used route for parents from three schools (actually it's four schools they forgot Good Shepard primary in the article), to residents of the suburb.

LIVERPOOL COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENT on FacFacebook at 6pm Monday Evening (community consultation at it's worst)

Council has implemented new traffic management measures at Lismore Street, Hoxton Park, following ongoing feedback on traffic and safety issues, including reports of accidents, from local residents.

Turn restrictions into Lismore Street are now in place in an effort to decrease and slow the heavy flow of traffic on this local street, and increase pedestrian safety. Lismore Street is designed to carry a maximum of 14,000 vehicles per week – currently 42,000 vehicles are using this road.

Variable Message Signs were situated at the intersection of First Avenue and Hoxton Park Road, as well as Pacific Palms Circuit and Kurrajong Road for two weeks prior to notify motorists of the changes.

Council will monitor the effectiveness of the new signage on traffic entering Lismore Street, as well as impacts on the surrounding neighbourhood, up until the end of this year.

We welcome feedback from the community during this time - your feedback will be included in an assessment considered by Council at the end of 2024.

These restrictions were endorsed by Liverpool’s Traffic Committee members which comprises of TfNSW, Local MP’s and NSW Police’

Liverpool City Council last month voted unanimously to restrict non-resident traffic from Lismore Street in Hoxton Park, a 230-metre stretch connecting First Avenue and Pacific Palms Circuit long used as a rat-run between Hoxton Park Road and Kurrajong Road, after the installation of a speed bump last year failed to address the “ongoing concerns”.

I am just waiting to see how long it takes for the  Mayor of Liverpool to blame the Labor Party for this debacle created under his watch.

Another crazy idea and decision mafe without adequate Community Consultation, thought or planning.
