Good Evening Fellow Residents, Local Patrons and Petition Supporters

First Let me say THANK YOU to everyone who has signed this Online Petition to Support the Local Residents and Business Owners at Hoxton Park in asking ANDREW CONSTANCE – MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT to STOP the proposed closure of Right Turn in and out Lanes to the intersection of Hoxton Park Road and Dorrigo Ave which will adversely affect the Residents, Business Owners, Community Health Centre, the School Communities in and around the Hoxton Park Shopping Village.

A BIT OF BACKROUND

In September 2019 RMS announced plans to widen Hoxton Park Rd to allow for Bus lanes up towards the Airport from Banks Road to Cowpasture Road, The Shop Owners DO NOT oppose Hoxton Park Road Extension and the addition of Bus Lanes in the Kerbside Lanes. Currently, vehicles can turn right from Hoxton Park Rd into Dorrigo Ave to access the shops, and they can also turn right from Dorrigo Ave back on to Hoxton Park Rd.

In the proposed Extension of Hoxton Park Road the plans showed that Transport for NSW (RMS) wants to Close the Right Turn In and Right Turn out Lanes from Hoxton Park Road into Dorrigo Ave which provides access to the Hoxton Park Shopping Village to residents of Hinchinbrook West, Middleton Grange, West Hoxton, Greenway Park and Carnes Hill as it has the only Post Office close to those Suburbs.

Residents and Shop Owners objected in October 2019 with 23 individual submissions and over 400 signatures on a Group objection letter in response to the design, objecting to the proposed left-in, left-out only arrangement. Liverpool Council also lodged a Detailed Submission objecting to the Project.

In fact at the October 2019 Liverpool Council Meeting a  Motion of Urgency was approved which in part stated that Council would "Undertake a communications campaign and to delegate to the CEO that our concerns and dissatisfaction are immediately conveyed to the RMS and the Minister for Transport and all political representatives

in the area. The example of the Dorrigo Avenue entrance and exit be included as an example of

Council’s dissatisfaction and that we oppose any suggestion that it be closed;"....

In May 2020 Transport for NSW (RMS) published a Consultation Report to say that an Independent Committee have reviewed the project and decided to proceed with the Original Plans unchanged. This is even after the so called Community Consultation Process. Transport for NSW (RMS) have completely ignored the Submissions and Objections of Local Residents, Business Owners and Liverpool Council and have announced that they are proceeding with their original plans.

CONCLUSION

This Petition was started to support Residents and Business Owners of Hoxton Park Area and we are asking you to help STOP the proposed plan for Transport for NSW to close the Right Turn In and Right Turn Out Lanes from Dorrigo Ave onto Hoxton Park. A list of the Objections will be provided in the next Update.

Yours Sincerely
