Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is threatening the health of millions by pushing a radical change to vaccine approval: requiring new placebo-controlled trials even for vaccines against well-understood, deadly diseases like measles and polio.

This isn’t about safety — it’s a backdoor way to delay and restrict access to vaccines that have protected generations. Public health experts are warning that this policy could slow vaccine production, limit availability, and increase the cost of getting vaccinated, all while measles outbreaks are already spreading.

Under RFK Jr.’s proposal, people enrolling in vaccine trials would receive either the actual vaccine or a placebo — an inactive injection, like saline, that offers no protection. This means that in a study for a vaccine against a disease like measles, some participants, including children, would be left completely unprotected, even though a safe and effective vaccine already exists. Doctors say this kind of testing is not just unnecessary — it's unethical.

Under RFK Jr.’s leadership, the Department of Health and Human Services is casting doubt on vaccines, downplaying science, and risking lives. His proposal could leave people, especially children and the immunocompromised, unprotected against preventable diseases.

We can’t let this happen.
